The Mission and Goals of the Office of Hispanic Ministry
Our Mission
“At this moment of grace we recognize the Hispanic community among us as a blessing from God. We call upon all persons of good faith to share our vision of the special gifts which Hispanics bring to the Body of Christ”.
It is the responsibility of the Office of Hispanic Ministry to promote this vision to minister to the Hispanics, especially to the newly arrived, whose peculiar history, culture, traditions and spirituality challenges the Church to minister to them in their own language, which is the means of expression of their culture and of their faith. A special focus of the Office of Hispanic Ministry is to serve these Hispanic Immigrants in our Archdiocese.
With God’s help, we will accomplish this mission by
- Implementing, promoting, and carrying out the Goals and Objectives of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan which in a more direct way require or demand the involvement of the Office of Hispanic Ministry.
- Assisting the Archbishop, other Archdiocesan offices and parishes in their ministry to the Spanish Speaking and to the newly arrived as called by the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan.
Our Goals:
Three Permanent Goals outline the vision of our ministry to the Spanish Speaking and to the newly arrived:
- To implement and to promote an attitude of welcoming to all Hispanics into our Church, especially the newly arrived (a) in parishes, (b) at the Archdiocesan level.
- To Prepare and implement Programs of Formation and Resources which provide the education, training and empowerment of the Spanish Speaking in their service to their Church.
- To assist Hispanic Immigrants in their efforts to make a good living in the United States and to contribute to the common good.
